About Us
Gibbon-Brooks Ltd, trading as F Sharp, is a professional blade sharpening service. We are registered in England and Wales. Our registered office is in Hailsham, East Sussex.
These Terms & Conditions govern your use of our services and website at fsharpblades.co.uk. By using our services you agree to these terms in full.
Accepting These Terms
By booking a collection, submitting blades for sharpening, or making a purchase through our website, you confirm that you have read and accept these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree, you should not use our services.
We may update these terms from time to time. The version in force at the time of your booking applies to that transaction.
Our Services
F Sharp provides a professional blade sharpening service including collection, sharpening, BESS verification, and return of knives, scissors, garden tools, and other bladed items within our coverage area.
We sharpen to a verified BESS score below 300 for standard kitchen knives. Specialist items, heavily damaged blades, or certain blade types may require individual assessment — we will advise you before proceeding.
We reserve the right to decline to sharpen any item that we consider unsafe, unsuitable for the service, or beyond reasonable repair. In such cases no charge will be made for assessment.
Booking & Collections
Bookings are confirmed by email or telephone. A booking is not confirmed until you receive written or verbal confirmation from F Sharp.
You are responsible for ensuring blades are safely prepared for collection — wrapped individually and secured. F Sharp accepts no liability for injuries sustained due to unsafe packaging by the customer.
A handover signature is required at both collection and return. If no authorised person is available at the agreed time, we reserve the right to reschedule and may charge a failed-collection fee.
Standard turnaround is 48 hours from collection. We will advise if this cannot be met. Time is not of the essence unless expressly agreed in writing.
Pricing & Payment
Current pricing is displayed on our website and communicated at the time of booking. Prices are inclusive of collection, sharpening, BESS verification, and return within our coverage area.
Box rate: £15 per blade for collections of 7 or more blades. Individual rate: £10 per blade for collections of fewer than 7 blades. Scissors and garden tools are priced individually and advised at the time of booking.
Payment is due on return of your blades unless otherwise agreed. We accept payment by card through Shopify Payments. We reserve the right to retain sharpened blades until payment is received.
Prices are subject to change. The price quoted at the time of booking applies to that booking.
Condition of Items
We photograph and log all items at collection. Any pre-existing damage, chips, cracks, or defects will be recorded. We will advise you of any such defects before proceeding with sharpening.
By submitting blades for sharpening you confirm you are the owner of the items, or are authorised to submit them on behalf of the owner.
Sharpening is an abrasive process. Some material removal from the blade is inherent. F Sharp accepts no liability for changes to blade geometry, profile, or appearance that result from the standard sharpening process.
We will not proceed with any item that we consider structurally unsafe. We will notify you and return the item unsharpened at no charge.
Our Liability
F Sharp will exercise reasonable skill and care in performing the sharpening service. In the event that an item is lost or damaged while in our care, our liability is limited to the reasonable replacement value of the item, up to a maximum of £250 per item unless otherwise agreed in writing.
We are not liable for any loss of earnings, business interruption, or consequential losses arising from delay or failure of the service.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited by English law.
If you are submitting items of significant value (collector's pieces, antique blades, or items valued above £250), please advise us in advance so we can discuss appropriate arrangements.
Cancellation & Returns
You may cancel a booking without charge up to 24 hours before the agreed collection time by contacting us by email or telephone.
Cancellations within 24 hours of the agreed collection time may incur a cancellation fee of up to £10 to cover our costs.
If you are not satisfied with the sharpening result, please contact us within 48 hours of return. We will assess the concern and, where the result falls below our stated BESS standard, re-sharpen at no additional charge.
As sharpening is a service performed on your items, standard distance selling cancellation rights do not apply once the service has been performed.
Intellectual Property
All content on the F Sharp website — including text, images, branding, the F Sharp hazard label design, and the F♯ mark — is the intellectual property of Gibbon-Brooks Ltd. You may not reproduce, distribute, or use any of this content without our written permission.
Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these terms or the use of our services shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force and effect.
