Become an Engineering Partner.
F Sharp is building a network of verified blade technicians. If you sharpen professionally — or want to — this is where you come in.
What engineering partners do.
F Sharp Engineering Partners are trained and verified blade sharpening technicians operating within the F Sharp quality framework. All work is performed to our published standard — BESS below 300 on kitchen knives — using approved equipment and documented procedures.
Receive and inspect blades
Log incoming blades, photograph condition, record pre-existing damage. Every blade enters the workshop with a documented record.
Sharpen to F Sharp standard
Using Tormek T-8 or equivalent approved equipment. Correct angle selection, progressive grit sequence, burr removal, stropping. No shortcuts.
Verify with BESS testing
Every blade tested before return. BESS score recorded. Blades not meeting the target standard are re-worked before sign-off.
Return guarded and labelled
Every blade guarded, F Sharp hazard label applied, BESS score recorded on job sheet. Ready for return to the customer.
The right technician.
Existing sharpening experience or strong transferable skill
You may already sharpen professionally, or come from a related background — chef, butcher, toolmaker, craftsperson. We can train the right person. We cannot train the wrong attitude.
Meticulous and process-driven
F Sharp operates to a documented standard. Engineering partners follow procedure, record results, and take quality seriously. If you find satisfaction in a job done properly, you'll fit here.
Comfortable working independently
Partners operate from their own workspace using approved equipment. You manage your own workflow, your own schedule, your own output — within the F Sharp framework.
Self-employed or able to operate as such
Engineering partners work on a sub-contractor basis. You are responsible for your own tax, insurance, and equipment maintenance.
Committed to verification
BESS testing is mandatory. Every blade. Every time. If this seems excessive, this partnership is not for you. If it seems right, read on.
What F Sharp measures against.
All kitchen knives are returned to a BESS score below 300 — measured on the Brubacher Edge Sharpness Scale using a calibrated BESS tester. This is not a target. It is the minimum acceptable result.
Engineering partners are trained in BESS testing methodology and provided with testing protocols as part of onboarding. Results are recorded and form part of the job record for every blade processed.
